In Memoriam for WESLEY C. SKILES
High Springs, Florida, resident and world-renowned diver, photographer, film-maker,
explorer and educator, Wes Skiles died July 21, 2010 while on a photo dive for National
Geographic off the coast of Florida. John Moran took the photo of Wes, above, and offers

A founding member The Blue Path Campaign, Wes is remembered for his passion for
discovering the secrets of the Floridan Aquifer and his passion for preserving it. We dedicate
the current exhibition at the Florida Museum of Natural history to the pioneering work and
spirit of Wes Skiles.
The Blue Path Campaign to preserve Florida's aquifer, springs and waterways begins with the
current exhibition at the Florida Museum of Natural History, at the University of Florida, Gainesville
Floridians are putting themselves on The Blue Path to accomplish one of our state's most significant
